Hearing Aid Technology

Technology continues to improve in all aspects of our world, which includes hearing aids. Digital hearing aids have become micro-computers that process sound information rapidly to help provide you with the best speech listening opportunity. Hearing aid technology has improved tremendously over the last few years. From noise reduction capabilities to wireless compatibility, hearing aid technology is evolving to meet your communication needs in a wide range of situations.

Your Audiologist will recommend a hearing aid technology level based on your listening needs, your expectations of hearing aids, and your lifestyle. Mile High Hearing offers four main technology levels. Within each level, different technology and features are available.

As the level of the technology increases in hearing aids, so does the availability of high-level processing features. Basic hearing aids generally require the wearer to make manual adjustments in certain listening environments, such as turning a volume control up or down, or pushing a button to change listening programs. In contrast, a higher technology hearing aid responds automatically to changes in the listener’s environment, making changes based on the signals detected by the hearing aid.
